Advanced Search is now available on this archive! Follow the “Advanced Search” link in the sidebar and you will be able to search combinations of genres, fandoms, characters, and pairings. You may, for example, want all the stories that are in Drama and include either Tezuka Kunimitsu or Roy Mustang. Now you can get them, by selecting “Drama” from the Genre list and “Tezuka Kunimitsu” and “Roy Mustang” from the Character/Pairing list and setting the Search Type “To search for stories that contain ANY selected terms.”.
Use the ALL search type for single selections per section, for example searching for the Drama stories in Fullmetal Alchemist.
Use the ANY search type for multiple selections per section, for example searching for the Drama or Romance stories in Fullmetal Alchemist or Bleach.
(Unless, of course, you really do wish to see ALL the stories that include both Drama and Romance and are in both Fullmetal Alchemist and Bleach.)
For those who care about the nitty-gritty, the ANY search will look for (Genre X OR Genre Y) AND (Fandom X OR Fandom Y) AND (Character X OR Character Y OR Pairing Z). It’s pretty spiffy if I do say so myself, and involves a good deal of comparing objects and re-indexing arrays and things that got way more complicated than array_intersect. Go me.
